Site Preparation and Grading in Waco

We clear and grub the lot, strip and stockpile topsoil, then move earth with cut and fill until the pad elevations, building corners, and drainage slopes match the drawings. Rough grading gets the mass of dirt where it belongs; finish grading brings the surface to a tight tolerance ready for footings, flatwork, or a driveway subbase.

Why Grading Comes First

• Drainage is set here. Positive slopes away from the structure and swales that carry water off the pad are cut during grading, not bolted on later. Waco clay holds water, so this step decides whether a slab stays dry.
• The subgrade is the foundation of the foundation. A level, compacted subgrade spreads the load evenly. Skip it and you get differential settlement and cracks.

Our Process

We call 811 for a utility locate, then clear and strip the site and stockpile good topsoil for reuse. Cut and fill follows the grading plan, checked with laser and GPS grade control, and structural fill goes in compacted lifts wherever the plan calls for built-up ground. A final finish grade leaves the pad true and draining before we roll off.
